CACE Privacy Webinar : The Broadening Scope of Requests for Personal Information: Assessing the Organizational Impacts

(Firms will be limited to one or two computer links per firm as we are limited to 100 links)
Increasingly, companies and other institutions are dealing with ever broadening requests for personal information from employees, former employees, and other individual stakeholders. This trend is creating complexity and confusion in respect of how far organizations must go to respond to such requests. In some cases, these broad requests for personal information become the precursor to litigation while in others they cause interference with active settlement negotiations. In addition, broad requests for personal information bring challenges for organizations from a document recovery and production perspective and place pressure on organizations’ internal resources.
Presented by Kate Bilson, Chief Privacy Officer and Senior Legal Counsel for TransCanada, this webinar will focus on:
- The underlying rationales for these broadening requests;
- The intersection of Canadian litigation and privacy regimes;
- The practical challenges that broad requests for personal information bring for organizations; and
- Some options for how to navigate through them.
